Stop Making Confession A Payment

Let's talk about confession.
I heard this saying that we need to confess our sins to get forgiven.
But the bible teaches believers to confess because they are forgiven.
John writes,
1 John 1:9
This is God restoring fellowship — not re-saving you.
Hebrews says Christ
Forever — not until your next mistake.
Forever — not until your next apology.
Forgiveness is a finished work.
Confession is simply agreeing with God about what happened, not trying to earn a pardon.
When a child tells their father, “I’m sorry,” it doesn’t make them less of a son.
It restores closeness.
The relationship never changed.
Confession becomes healthy when you stop using it as currency and start seeing it as conversation.
You confess from forgiveness, not for forgiveness.
