The Apostle Paul prayed a profound prayer for the believers in Ephesus. He asked that they would receive the spirit of wisdom and revelation. He then explained exactly how this spiritual wisdom functions: it happens when the eyes of your understanding are enlightened.

In the original Greek text, the word for understanding is (dianoia) διάνοια — "understanding, imagination, mind". The word for enlightened is (photizo) φωτίζω — "to enlighten, give light".

"the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints," Ephesians 1:18 (NKJV)

Under the New Covenant, God writes His instructions on our hearts and minds. He often does this by placing pictures and impressions in our sanctified imagination. However, the enemy wants to capture this same space. He wants to fill your mind with pictures of fear, sickness, and lack. He uses the constant stream of bad news to keep you in a state of anxiety.

If you spend hours consuming negative news, you fill your mind with details of disaster. You read the headlines, study the subheadings, and watch interviews about the problems. Your peace disappears because your imagination is occupied by trouble.

Be aware of the world, but do not get engrossed in it. Guard the eyes of your heart. When you fill your mind with God's promises, His light shines on your imagination. You begin to see His goodness instead of the enemy's threats.

You protect your peace when you choose what occupies the screen of your mind.
