When Looking Inward Breaks You

There’s a reason introspection feels heavy.
When you keep looking inward, you eventually find everything that’s wrong.
Corrie ten Boom said:
“Look within and be depressed.
Look to Christ and be at rest.”
The same principle appears in the Scripture:
“You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You.”
Isaiah 26:3
Self-focus magnifies shortcomings.
Christ-focus magnifies grace.
Self-focus breeds discouragement.
Christ-focus produces strength.
Self-focus spirals downward.
Christ-focus lifts.
When your thoughts keep circling your failures, your willpower, your performance, your past — your soul carries a weight it was never meant to carry.
But when your heart turns toward Jesus — His obedience, His righteousness, His love — peace returns like a steady friend.
Rest isn’t found by looking harder at yourself.
It’s found by looking at Him.
