We all know God loves us. But there is a difference between being loved and being liked.

David said something stunning in 1 Chronicles 28:4: "He liked me to make me king over all Israel." 1 Chronicles 28:4

God liked David. He called him "a man after My own heart." Why? What was David’s secret?

Some say it was because he was quick to repent. But many others in the Bible repented, yet none were given this title. Was it his musical talent? His bravery?

I believe the secret lies in one obsession David had from his youth. While King Saul was content to let the Ark of the Covenant gather dust in a farmhouse for 20 years, David couldn't sleep until he brought it home.

David was obsessed with the Presence of God.

The Ark is a picture of Jesus. David didn't just want the throne; he wanted the King. He didn't just want the blessings; he wanted the Blesser.

God likes those who like His Son. When you make Jesus the center of your life—not just a part of your weekend routine—you touch the Father's heart in a way that mere obedience never can.
