We often give the devil too much credit. We assume he knows our thoughts, our future, and God’s specific plans for us.

He doesn’t.

The enemy is not the opposite of God. God is omniscient (all-knowing); the enemy is merely observant. He has to watch you to learn about you.

This dynamic started in the Garden of Eden. After the fall, God spoke a prophecy that terrified the enemy. He spoke of a coming (zera) זֶרַע — a "Seed."

“And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel.” Genesis 3:15

God declared that a Seed from the woman would crush the serpent's head. The enemy heard this. He knew his time was limited, but he didn't know who the Seed was or when He would come.

So, he started watching. He watched Cain and Abel. He watched the lineage of David. He watched Joseph. Whenever he saw favor or potential, he attacked, hoping to stop the Seed.

He attacks you not because he knows your future, but because he suspects your potential.

He is afraid of what you might become. He doesn’t know the ending of your story, but he knows that if you keep walking with God, his influence in your life is over.

Your future is a secret held securely in the hands of God.
