Many Christians assume their old nature is still alive, a sinful version of themselves they have to wrestle every day.

Paul says otherwise:

“Our old man was crucified with Him.”
Romans 6:6

He does not say it is being crucified, or that it needs to be put to death again. He writes that it was crucified.

The Greek word (syne-staurōthē) συνεσταυρώθη (“was co-crucified”) means it happened once, decisively, in the past.

What remains today are patterns, memories of an old identity your mind hasn’t fully unlearned.

Your nature is new. Your standing is new.

You aren’t fighting an old self trying to resurrect.
You’re renewing a mind learning to keep up with what God already finished.

You’re not at war with who you were. You’re waking up to who you are.
