The Emmaus disciples were discouraged,
and it wasn’t because they lacked faith.
It was because Jesus had become a side topic.

They said,
“We were hoping it was He who would redeem Israel.”
Luke 24:21

Israel was the center.
Jesus was the accessory.

It still happens today.
We use Jesus to fix a problem or reach a goal.

But Bible study is not about finding keys to success.
It’s about finding Christ.

When Jesus walked with them, he opened the Scriptures to show them himself, not practical strategies.

“He expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself.”
Luke 24:27

When you see Jesus in the Scriptures, you are no longer discouraged.

Life changes most when Jesus stops being useful and becomes central.
