Refusing World's Agreements About Aging

One of the biggest contrast I see today between believers and the world is about aging:
that the body weakens, the memory fades, and nothing can be done about it.
But I want to show you three striking persona that illustrated this assumption.
Joshua — the leader who brought Israel into the promised land — heard God say this near the end of his life:
Joshua 13:1
God only says Joshua is old when Joshua perceived himself as someone old and is nearing the end.
The work was unfinished, and he no longer saw more territory as part of his story.
His perception shaped his expectation.
Caleb, on the other hand — the same age, the same battles, the same wilderness — carried a different spirit.
At 85 he declared:
Joshua 14:11–12
Where Joshua settled, Caleb advanced.
Where Joshua concluded, Caleb reached.
Where Joshua saw age, Caleb saw promise.
And then there is Moses.
At 120 years old, Scripture describes him like this:
Deuteronomy 34:7
These men were not exceptions — they were examples.
Signs that God does not write decline into the identity of His people.
You are allowed to outgrow the assumptions of the world.
You are allowed to expect renewal where others expect decline.
How you see yourself shapes what you will reach for — just as it did for Joshua and Caleb.
Aging is real.
Decline doesn’t have to be.
