A man tells you an angel appeared to him. He says the angel gave him the keys to overcoming death in these last days.

Should you believe him?

No.

Not because angels are unreal. They are real. But God will not bypass His Word. Paul settled this question two thousand years ago:

"But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed." Galatians 1:8 (NKJV)

An angelic visitation is not proof of a divine source. Paul warned about counterfeits:

"And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light." 2 Corinthians 11:14 (NKJV)

So the test is never the experience. The test is the Book. Paul was an actual apostle. The Bereans heard him preach, and they still checked him against Scripture:

"These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so." Acts 17:11 (NKJV)

The Bible does not scold them for this. It calls them noble.

God does have more to show His people about life in these last days. But every true revelation will come from the Scriptures, not around them. Paul gave the standing instruction:

"Test all things; hold fast what is good." 1 Thessalonians 5:21 (NKJV)

The word translated "test" is (dokimazete) δοκιμάζετε — "examine, prove, put to the test." It was used for the testing of metals. You do not verify metal by admiring it. You put it in the fire.

Put every claim in the fire of Scripture. What is gold will remain.

If a revelation cannot survive an open Bible, it did not come from God.
