Look and Live

It is the easiest thing in the world to look at your problem.
In the wilderness, the Israelites were bitten by venomous snakes. They were in pain. Their wounds were swelling. It was natural to look down, analyze the bite, and panic.
But those who looked at their wounds died.
God provided a strange remedy. He told Moses to put a bronze serpent on a pole. Bronze represents judgment. The serpent represents the curse. It was a picture of Jesus, the One who knew no sin, becoming sin and taking our judgment on the cross.
The instruction was simple: Look and live.
It didn't matter how bad the bite was. It didn't matter if they had "straight eyes, cross eyes, or one eye." As long as they looked away from themselves and to the cross, they lived.
If you are sick or struggling today, stop checking the symptoms. Stop analyzing the "bite." The cure is found in looking at the One who took the poison for you.
Your wound loses its power when you keep your eyes on the Cross.
