Legalistic preaching relies on pressure and threat. It assumes that demands produce obedience. Human nature proves otherwise. External rules often provoke rebellion rather than submission.

True heart transformation occurs through the revelation of God's unmerited favor.

"Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?"Romans 2:4 (NKJV)

It is harder to sin against unconditional love than against stone tablets. When a person realizes that Christ bore their full judgment on the cross, sin loses its appeal. Grace does not make sin safe; grace makes sin repulsive.

Jesus demonstrated this principle with Zacchaeus. Jesus did not lecture the tax collector on financial dishonesty. He offered fellowship and entered his home. Love produced immediate restitution.

"Then Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, 'Look, Lord, I give half of my goods to the poor; and if I have taken anything from anyone by false accusation, I restore fourfold.'"Luke 19:8 (NKJV)

The law demands righteousness from weak humanity. Grace imparts righteousness through Christ. When you behold the love of God, your mind changes naturally.

Real repentance is a response to divine love, not legalistic pressure.
