You can open the Bible and accumulate a mountain of information without ever encountering the Author. You can graduate from a seminary with a full head and an empty heart.

The Bible tells us that "knowledge puffs up," but revelation builds up. The difference isn't found in the brain; it’s found in the posture of the heart.

What is most needed as we approach the Word of God is a teachable, humble heart—what the Bible calls being "meek." It means being easily instructed.

Before you open the Book, try a simple prayer: "Father, grant me seeing eyes and a hearing heart. Let me see Jesus." When you stop reading to "know" and start reading to "see," the Word becomes a "now word"—a living revelation that transforms you into a rock of stability for others.

The best way to learn is to admit you don’t already know.
