In ancient quarries, stones sat in thick darkness until someone went in, cut them free, and carried them out.
That’s the picture Peter uses to describe what God has done for us.

“(ekklesia) ἐκκλησία — the called-out ones.”
“He called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.”
1 Peter 2:9

You weren’t a stone searching for a way out.
You had no ladder and no strength to climb.
Christ came into your darkness, lifted you, and made you His own.

And He didn’t leave you on the ground.
He built you into something larger than your own story:

“You also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house.”
1 Peter 2:5

A living stone is a stone placed with purpose.
It carries weight and has a real place in the building.

Your whole life is part of a structure God Himself is shaping: your parenting, work, desires, and relationships.
Nothing in your story is wasted.
Each season is a placement.

And one day, that house will shine with a glory so real that the universe will recognize the craftsmanship.

You were called out and carried in.
Now you are being built into His house.

You didn’t climb out of darkness. Someone carried you into the light.
