Imagine you owe a friend $10,000. You promised to pay by a certain date, but the date came and went, and you didn't have the money.

What happens next? Every time you see that friend, you feel a pang in your chest. You start avoiding them. You cross the street so you don't have to talk to them. You don't hate them. You just have debt on your conscience.

This is the state of humanity with God. We hide because we feel the debt.

But what if someone came along and paid your friend $1 million on your behalf? Suddenly, the debt is gone. But more than that—your friend is now a gainer because of you.

Would you still hide? No. You would run to them. You would say, "Let's grab lunch!" The barrier is gone.

Jesus didn't just pay what you owed. He is the overpayment. The blood of bulls and goats could only cover debt like a credit card. Jesus took the debt away entirely.

The goal of the Cross is that you would have "no more conscience of sins."

“For the worshipers, once purified, would have had no more consciousness of sins.” Hebrews 10:2

You don't have to hide from a Creditor who has already been paid.
