A shadow has no physical substance. The shadow of a dog cannot bite you. The shadow of a weapon cannot cut you. It may look threatening, but it has no power to harm you.

Many believers face trials that feel like dark valleys. You might experience physical sickness, family challenges, or intense pressure at work. During these times, the enemy wants you to believe you are trapped. But the Psalmist David wrote a promise that changes our perspective.

"Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me."Psalm 23:4 (NKJV)

Notice the word "through." You do not build a house in the valley. You do not camp there forever. You walk through it. For the believer, even death is only a shadow because Jesus took the sting out of it.

God does not leave you in the difficult place. His goal is to bring you out into a place of abundance.

"You have caused men to ride over our heads; We went through fire and through water; But You brought us out to rich fulfillment."Psalm 66:12 (NKJV)

In Hebrew, the word for Egypt is (Mitzrayim) מִצְרַיִם — "double straits, double distress". You may feel pressed on every side today, but God is leading you out of your narrow place. When you walk through the fire, the Lord walks with you. He is the fourth man in the furnace. When the three Hebrew men came out of the fire, not one hair was singed, and they did not even smell like smoke. You will emerge from this trial without the smell of defeat.

The valley is only a passage, but the wealthy place is your permanent destination.
