We often try to make ourselves strong before we approach God. We think we must build up our resources, our intellect, or our health to be useful to Him. But God operates on a different principle. He uses what the world calls nothing to dismantle what the world calls something.

Paul explains this design in his letter to the Corinthians.

"But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are"1 Corinthians 1:27-28 (NKJV)

The word translated "to bring to nothing" is (katargese) καταργήσῃ — "to reduce to nothing, to render useless, to nullify."

God does not look for human strength to accomplish His work. If He used our strength, we would claim the credit. Instead, He selects the weak, the overlooked, and the insignificant. When God uses a small, weak thing to defeat a giant obstacle, everyone knows the power belongs to God.

Consider Gideon. He was threshing wheat in a winepress, hiding from his enemies. He belonged to the weakest clan in his tribe, and he was the least in his family. Yet God called him a mighty man of valor. God did not wait for Gideon to become strong. He used Gideon in his weakness to save a nation.

If you feel weak, small, or unqualified today, you are ready for God to use you. Your lack of natural strength is not a barrier to His power. It is the very quality He looks for.

God does not need your strength to solve your problem; He uses your weakness to show His power.
