Some believers try to measure their love for God—how sincere, how steady, how strong.

But the Bible reminds us:

“We love Him because He first loved us.”
1 John 4:19

The Greek word for love here, (agapaō) ἀγαπάω — “to set value on, to prize” reminds us that love isn’t duty.
It’s response.

Under the law, the greatest commandment demanded love for God in full strength.
But no one ever fulfilled it completely.

Jesus didn’t come to demand love.
He came to reveal it.

You don’t love God by trying harder.
You love Him by discovering how deeply, personally, relentlessly He loves you.

Love for God grows naturally when you stop striving to produce it.
