There is a tendency to become hyper-aware of the opposition. We look for the problems. We analyze the "enemy." We worry about what might go wrong.

But Jesus gave a very interesting instruction regarding the power of the enemy.

“Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” Luke 10:19

Notice the imagery. To trample on something, it has to be under your feet.

You don’t have to go hunting for snakes or scorpions. You don’t need to be fascinated by them. You simply need to walk your path with God. If something gets in your way, you don't stop; you walk over it.

The double negative in the Greek text emphasizes this absolute safety: "Nothing shall by no means in any way hurt you."

The safest place to be is moving forward. When you are walking with God, the devil is always beneath your feet. You trample him not by focusing on him, but by focusing on where you are going.

Keep walking.
