God Is Rebuilding The Wrong Tent

In the days of King David, a strange anomaly existed in Israel. There were two tabernacles standing at the same time, just six miles apart.
At Gibeon stood the Tabernacle of Moses. It was impressive. It had the bronze altar, the heavy curtains, the priesthood, and the centuries of tradition. It had everything—except the Ark of the Covenant.
At Zion stood the Tabernacle of David. It was just a simple open tent. It had no heavy veil. It had no lever of washing. But it had the Ark—the manifest presence of God.
Religion would have bet on the Tabernacle of Moses. It had the history and the rules.
But the prophet Amos declared that in the last days, God would not rebuild the structure of Moses. He said:
"On that day I will raise up the tabernacle of David, which has fallen down..." Amos 9:11
God is not interested in rebuilding religious structures, legalistic barriers, or distance between Him and His people. He is rebuilding the place of intimacy. He is rebuilding the place where there is no veil.
He is moving us from Gibeon (Rule-keeping) to Zion (Relationship).
